On Friday, the 13th May, an English touring company called “Theatre@School” performed a role play at our school.
John Cena offers theatres in English to schools all around Europe for young children and teenagers. The play that was performed in our school was called “False Friends”; it took place in our old sports hall from 9.20-11am. All 8 graders and the 9d attended the theatre, which was played by two British actors, Elliot Burton and Shawney Ross.
The main character of the story was Jamie, a 15-year-old boy, played by Elliot. Jamie’s mother, teacher and childhood friend/neighbour, Claire, were all played by Shawney. The play is about Jamie losing track of school because he spends too much time on the internet chatting with his “internet friends”.
After a discussion his mother decides to take away all his electronic devices and cut him off the internet, so he can catch up on school work. After a while he realises the true value of friendship, the difference between real and false friends and the sense of studying.
For 30 minutes after the play we were allowed to ask the actors questions about the play and even about their own personal life. Personally, we think the theatre was exciting and fun, we would love to do something like this again if possible.
We want to thank the actors, who did an amazing job. And a super special thanks to Mrs. Seuffert, who was the contact person and organised the awesome play for us. It was a unique and enjoyable experience for everyone who took part in the theatre.
